If you are interested in discussing your data needs, please call us at 1-844-677-5548 or fill out the Request a Demo form and one of our Scott's Data Specialists will reach out to you.

-
A: We take a snapshot of your data in our secure cloud-based environment and instantly standardize it to a set of pre-configured parameters to match it to Scott’s data. We then assign an ID to that record and delete all traces of your account data. The app only stores the ID we assigned and the corresponding Scott’s ID. We then use that ID pairing to marry Scott’s data and your account data going forward.
On a nightly basis, the app then looks for changes to your data and in the Scott’s data. In either case, it seeks new matches, constantly attempting to match as many of your records as possible. Once a match is made and the data is appended, the update cycle can take place automatically. There is no importing or exporting needed on your part.

A: That depends. If there is already information in the standard object fields—the “above the line” section in your Account or Contact profiles—and we are simply matching an existing account, then the app will not import or alter any information above the line. All the Scott’s information will appear “below the line” in the custom object fields. At no time will the information in the standard object fields be replaced, deleted, or altered in any way. As the Scott’s data is updated, those updates occur in the Scott’s custom object fields only.
However, if the record being imported is 100% new in your Salesforce instance, then Scott’s will populate the standard object fields above the line during the original import. After that, the information becomes yours and will not be altered by the app in any way. You’re free to alter it, but the app won’t.
-
A: Not immediately. But it will get re-matched and automatically populate overnight. Or you can manually re-populate the data by clicking GET MATCH. Here’s why: The Scotts data is stored in Salesforce's database and is related to a Salesforce standard object (Account, Contact, or Lead) using the Salesforce record ID. The app uses the Salesforce record ID and the Scotts ID to establish a matched pair and continually update that record. However, when a record is changed from a Lead to an Account or a Lead to a Contact, it is assigned a new Salesforce ID. The app then needs to re-establish the matched pair with the new Salesforce ID, which it does during its nightly processing.
-
A: Yes. You can hit GET MATCH and “Unmatch” the listing. However, once you Unmatch a listing, you are telling the app that this record should not ever be matched with record it was previously matched to. So as long as that Account ID is in the system, it will never again match to that same Scott’s record.
-
A: The easiest way to do this is to start by entering in the name of your Lead in the Contact Search of Scott’s Prospecting. When you select the right contact, you can chose to import the information as a LEAD. When you import it into your Leads section, all of the Scott’s profile information will come with it.
-
A: If you’re searching for a business or contact in the Scott’s Prospecting Tab, you will see an upload symbol beside the NAICS codes and Scott’s ID search fields. By clicking on this symbol, you can upload a CSV file including any NAICS codes (#’s only) or Scott’s ID’s (with no spaces) directly and the search will automatically be refined to meet your search criteria.
-
A: Yes. Because the record was “matched” at some point, it will continue to show up as matched, even if the matched account has been deleted. The way around this is to first “Unmatch” the record from the account and then delete the account. The Scott’s record will then no longer show up as Matched.
-
A: Contacts don’t automatically migrate with the company information when you search by company. This is to allow the user to only bring in the information they need, as some companies have numerous contacts, which can quickly clutter up your Salesforce instance! If a User wants to bring over the contact information as well, they can simply search the record by Contact and add the company search parameters below.
If you want the contact information for a Scott’s profile after it’s been matched to an account, you can simply search for that account via the Contact Search in Scott’s Prospecting and import the selected results or hit the GET CONTACT button in the Contacts Section of your Account Profile. Q: Why does the search say “show unmatched records” only?
This gives you the option to see the entire landscape of your search results, including any results you may already have imported into your Salesforce instance. Regardless of whether you check this box, only unmatched records are imported to prevent duplication.

-
A: The Scott’s Custom Objects are custom objects in Salesforce, and the Scott’s profile information is resident in Salesforce. While this means that it will impact storage for your Salesforce instance, it also means that your Scott’s data will be fully accessible for whatever Salesforce tools and features you are using.
-
A: We give customers full stewardship over the matching process and the data they append; however, t they can't edit the Scott's data—it's dynamically updated by the application. They can only import it or unmatch it (which effectively deletes it from the Account profile).
-
A: Nightly. But Users can look for matches using the Get Match function at any time.
-
A: Scott’s updates their data on an ongoing basis. Updates are applied to the database on a weekly basis.
-
